Description
Originally known as Liberty Christian Church, this congregation's history reaches back to before 1820, and was the first church in Boone County, Missouri. Itinerant preachers referred to it as the "red top church" because it's gabled ends were covered in paint made from red keel, which came from a local creek. The name stuck, and was officially changed to Red Top Christian Church in 1868. You can see by the various additions that the church building has grown over the years, as it's congregation has too.
