Description
This grist mill was built in 1894. Operating with a turbine instead of a water wheel, the mill was "top of the line" for it's day. Since the spring had an unlimited supply of water, it appeared to be an ideal location for a mill. However periodic flooding proved to be a problem. Alley Spring became part of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways in 1969, and the mill was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981.
