Description
Built in 1871 across the Elk Fork of the Salt River, the Union Covered Bridge is one of only four remaining historic covered bridges in Missouri. The bridge is 120 feet long, 17 1/2 feet wide, and it's entrance is 12 feet high -- high enough for a wagonload of hay. It was named for the nearby Union Church. It served the people of Monroe County for 99 years, but has been limited to pedestrian traffic since 1970.
