Artist's Description
This little church's history is as old as Boone County itself. According to William Switzler's "History of Boone County, 1882", Locust Grove Church was organized as early as 1816. In 1830, two acres of land were donated by William Douglass and William Scott (one acre each), and the "Old Brick Chapel" was erected. Eventually the congregation outgrew the little chapel, and in 1870 it was torn down and a new frame structure took it's place.
